• Dark Forest OS and online communities?

From poindexter FORTRAN@VERT to All on Saturday, January 17, 2026 11:06:00
I ran into this, Dark Forest OS (dfos.com)

It's a little light on details, but there's more details floating around on the web. It sounds like an interesting way to connect like-minded groups to create private internets. If this is a way to create vpn-connected web communities, I'm all in.

There's quite a bit of information at strickler.com and some books on the topic of online creative communities. The common threads are that the ongoing enshittification of the public internets will continue and the solution is for like-minded people to create their own communities.

    Sound familiar? :)

They're taking names for a rollout some time in 2026.

Who's behind it? Can you trust them it's not some sort of honeypot?

There's a lot of background information that leads me to think that
they're legit. I gave them my 25 year-old email address, not too
    worried. Yet.
