How bad do you guys think it will be? I'm debating on renting a generator or getting a hotel. I am not happy!!! :(

We have had bad weather here for the past couple of days now main thing
is with the winds and the blowing snow, which makes it difficult to work
for me come up since I do uber eats deliveries. At least while I still
look for a regular full time job. My thoughts and prayers will be with
you folks there in North Carolina as this spot of bad weather rolls
    through your area as well.

Yeah it's going to mess my work up too. I work outside.. My main concern with this weather is the power. As, mro commented earlier it's no big deal for him. Our power lines are not under ground and my sister has stage four cancer and needs oxygen. That's my concern. Glad you are doing good and good luck with a full time job. It took me a while to find one. Everyone posts they are hiring but never respond to applications lol

Have her provider set her up with backup tanks. those will do and they can be replaced as needed.

Or worse, when they do, its always a rejection email without saying why?

maybe your resume or your work history sucks. have someone who will be honest with you look at your resume. it could be your resume is too large

i'm a job jumper since i've quit my job of 17+ years and I can get a job in
    a week.

if you have a bunch of 'self employed' stuff that's a red flag that someone
is most likely a loser who was really not employed or they don't want to work for someone else.

There's a guy we all know who if you look up his linkedin you will see that most of his FEW jobs are for 1 year and there's huge gaps of 'self employment' and he was out of the army in 2 years. To him his resume looks great but it really looks like someone who can't function as an adult. now he's living off the govt.

Last time we had an extended power outage, my BBS was running bare-metal on a laptop. I was able to take it to Starbucks and transfer mail - I'd download everything then crash my downlinks.

    Wow dude, that's savage!

No, we have an adequate infrastructure which is funded by out taxes. as should you. you should contact your congressman and local govt.
you shouldn't live like you are in a 3rd world country.

All our lines are above ground. I don't know if i would call that 3rd world country, though. My syster has stage four cancer and needs oxygen (she is only 40) and if our power goes out, we will have issues.

And you've made no preparations for that? No generator, or oxygen tanks
    put away in reserve?

Spain had an 8 hour long outage last year. Best part of it is we dragged Portual and France down with us. It serves them well for trusting us.

I wish we had underground power. I'm in the hills along the California coast, and on my little cul-de-sac street, half of the street is fed power from the cross-streets.

I wonder how earthquakes would affect underground powerlines though. Since parts of the west coast US are prone to earthquakes, I imagine that could be a problem. Aove-ground power lines would be affected by earthquakes too, but I wonder if issues would be worse if they were underground..
