bunch of little gift shops, and we also ate at the "Haunted Hamburger"...

Did you try their ghoulash or imbibbing their spirits? Of course you gotta have a piece of booberry pie for desert. :)

Lots of stuff packed into a one week vacation. We only had a couple of actual days to enjoy our VRBO that had an outdoor kitchen and pool.

Maybe too much stuff. Personally, I prefer a more free-form vacation. I pick a place I want to go, get there and then just see what happens. More relaxing that way.

My wife and I recently visited Europe (Paris, Edinburgh, and London). We did book some activities ahead of time (sometimes that's even necessary for some activities), but we also wanted to have some free-form time. I think we were the most busy in Paris, but we also had times where we had the afternoon free or even a whole day free. For those days, it was nice to just be there and decide what to do as the day came.

We went to Italy a few years ago, and had a travel agent (they're still around!) plan the logistics. She even included down time and free time in the schedule!

This was a couple years ago now, so I don't remember exactly what burger I got. But no, I didn't try ghoulash, as that wouldn't be something that would interest me anywhere. We all did try something off their boozy drink menu, though, that involved ice cream.

No matter where I go, I look at the dessert menu and sometimes even say I'm going to get something. By the time I'm done eating, I'm full and don't want dessert any more. ;)

I completely agree with you there. However, in my case, that always seems to happen (too much stuff). The fact that we're not able to take that many vacations usually makes us cram as much crap into them as we possibly can, which is unfortunate, but is usually how it ends up.

Our honeymoon in Mexico some 20+ years ago involved four wheeling, swimming in cenotes, snorkeling, and whatever else that only gave us maybe one full day of relaxing at the resort.

Our trip to Disney with the kids a few years back involved all 3 parks in 4 days as part of a week long vacation. So with airports and flying, really we again only had a full day or two of relaxation in and around the lazy river at the resort.

    Nick

Yeah, I figured travel agents were probably still around. We used a company I found, Trip Masters, which helps plan vacations - It has an automated system on their web site where you can tell it what cities you want to visit, and it helps book plane tickets & other connections, airport transportation, hotels, and activities in each place. You can also talk to someone there if you need help with anything.

when i was with my common law wife pookie, we would go to virginia every year for 2 weeks. her dad had a house on the lake.

They would wear us the fuck out because they were doing something every
hour of the day. we had no time to just rest and watch tv.

These were old boomers and they never stopped.

it heated by the water usage of the nearby power plant.
it's a big place for boating and partying.

it's a man made lake. the fish will actually come up to you and beg for
food. they love the warm water.

everyone who owned land around that area had their land value jump very high. spotsylvania is also rumored to be the burial ground of kuna kinte.

Yep I know it well. I remember when they filled it. It is about 45 miles from my house.

Not only have a fished it quite a few times, but I remember fishing in one or two of the ponds that were displaced when they filled it.

It's a beautiful lake with a large striper population in it.

it can be dangerous due to the reckless boat drivers. i think
there's drowing deaths or boat related deaths every year.

Yep... the last time we put our boat in there on a weekend, we were nearly run over by a larger boat. We never went back on a weekend. It's safer during the week.
