I don't recall if I've seen any download links directly on YouTube, but in the past, I've used 3rd-party software to download videos from YouTube and haven't had a problem with those.

The reason why you don't have problems with 3rd-party downloaders is because 3rd-party downloaders are very good at staying ahead of the arms race. Youtube is continuously trying to change things so downloaders break, downloaders are just getting fixed so fast you don't notice.

Did you have a Saturn? I did and loved it dearly!

I have never owned a Sega system. Some friends of mine had but around here it was mostly N46 or Playstation.

Sega used to be out of my radar, but these days old Sega systems have grown on me because theire is a vibrant retrogaming community publishing new games for old systems such as the Genesis/MD. There is a lot of good stuff out there.

I don't have anything in particular to comment about the Saturn. I have no memory of ever playing a Saturn game directly. Closest would be playing the Powerslave conversion, which is a PC pseudo-port of Powerslave for Saturn. As far as I am told, it was an awesome game on the original hardware.

i think sega saturn was a bust in the usa or in my area because nintendo 64 was coming out in a year and saturn only came with one controller. i remember the one controller thing being a big deal with me as a kid.

i got a n64 and i was quite happy with it.

I thought the N64 also came with just one controller? But it also had 4 controller ports, whereas the othe consoles only had 2. I also had a N64, and I liked it.

There's a company called Analogue that makes FPGA re-creations of old consoles, and they have one now that they've recently developed which is a N64 clone. It also upscales the video to 4K:

    https://www.analogue.co/3d

I've been curious to buy one and try to use it with an Everdrive with some ROMs on it. But I've read that it may have some compatibility issues with the Everdrive (which may be resolved in the future with a firmware update or other update of some kind).

I currently have multiple ways of emulating multiple consoles, so I'm wondering if it would even be worth buying one of those, for me. They want about $270 for one of those..

The N64 was great for multiplayer games, that I remember. The PSX fell short in that regard. There weren't many games that supported more than 2 players, and if you wanted to play 3 or 4 player games you needed a bunch of extra accessories which most people didn't bother with. Meanwhile the N64 had stuff like Perfect Dark.

I think the reason why the Saturn flopped is because Sega had damaged their reputation too badly with an ininteligible line of products. Their prior consoles had so many addons and the naming was so confusing it was hard to tell what they were doing. If I had been on the market for a console just before the Saturn era I would have just dropped Sega from my list directly.

I had a N64 but didn't play any of the multiplayer games.. I'd never even played Goldeneye 007, which I've heard was a very popular game for the N64. I think it's interesting that the N64 had 4 controller ports though; it was definitely designed for multiplayer games.

In the 16-bit days, there was a console called the TurboGrafX-16 (or PC Engine in other markets), which I don't think was very popular overall, but it looks like it was very popular in Japan. I bought one, because a local store had some on sale with a massive discount. I actually thought it was a fun console. It had only one controller port (surprisingly), and there was an adapter that would give you 4 controller ports. I don't think there were many games for it that were multiplayer though, for the same reason (having to buy an accessory to get multiple controller ports).

When I use emulators these days, there are still a couple games I like to play for the TurboGrafX-16: Air Zonk (which is one of the more well-known games for it) and the Bomberman games that were made for it.

That console was FREAKING AWESOME. Its catalogue was all about shumps, though.

Devil's Crush for the TurboGrafx-16 was very good.
